Prof. Zhiheng Lyu is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) at the University of Alabama. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgia Tech with Prof. Younan Xia and completed her postdoctoral research with Prof. Qian Chen at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include precision synthesis of nanocrystals, electrocatalysis, and advanced in-situ imaging techniques.

Jimmy was born in Ningbo, China. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he conducted research under the guidance of Dr. Ryan Lively on polymer membranes for siloxane separation and CO2 capture. Outside of academics, Jimmy loves traveling, exploring nature, and enjoying the people and food along the way.

Emma is currently studying Chemical Engineering at The University of Alabama. She is interested in researching nanocrystals and polymer–catalyst interfaces and is passionate about pursuing a career in process engineering and design. Outside of academics, she enjoys staying active through weightlifting and tennis, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
