
Dr. Yiling Zhang
Dr. Zhang is an applied quantitative researcher specializing in household finance, with a focus on financial decision-making and consumer behavior. Her research investigates the cultural dynamics of financial behaviors and various aspects of consumption decisions, utilizing both large-scale datasets and primary data collected through surveys.
Dr. Zhang’s educational background spans multiple disciplines and cultures. She earned her Bachelor of Law degree at Fudan University in China. She then pursued a Master’s degree at Cornell University, concentrating on financial and economic policy. This interdisciplinary experience sparked her interest in consumer research, leading her to complete a Ph.D. in Consumer Behavior and Family Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Zhang brings valuable real-world experience to her research. She has interned at the World Trade Organization Consultation Center in China, worked for Uber China, and gained insights from a Japanese consulting firm. These diverse experiences inform her understanding of global financial markets and consumer behavior across different cultural contexts.
