The University of Alabama
Research and Specialization
Dr. Yunyang Ye joined the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama (UA) as an assistant professor in the fall of 2023. Dr. Ye’s current research focuses on sustainable and resilient buildings, communities, and cities, electrification and decarbonization of built environments, building energy policy, and building-to-grid integration. His research is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative. He has already published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles. Before joining UA, Dr. Ye was a research scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). As the principal investigator, he led his team studying urban-scale electrification with distributed energy resources. He has plenty of mentoring experience and close connections with national laboratories (e.g., PNNL, ORNL, NREL, and LBNL) and universities (e.g., Penn State and Georgia Tech).
