GRADUATE STUDENTS

Grace Lee Simmons
Grace Lee is a 5th year Doctoral Candidate in the Clinical Child Psychology Concentration at UA. She earned a B.S. from Davidson College where she studied Psychology and Music. She has worked for four years on a multisite examination of a musical theater-based intervention targeting social competence in youth with autism. Her research focuses on understanding social impairments in children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as designing, implementing and disseminating psychosocial interventions targeting these social impairments, particularly interventions integrating creative skills (music, art, etc.). Grace Lee’s dissertation will design and evaluate an innovative telehealth intervention targeting social amotivation (i.e., disinterest in engaging with peers and developing friendships) in children with autism: Social Motivation Intervention Leveraging E-Learning (SMILE). In her free time, Grace Lee enjoys trying new recipes, hot yoga, and long walks with her pup, Hazel.

Alexis Brewe
Alexis Brewe is a fourth year Clinical Psychology doctoral student working with Dr. Susan White in the Child concentration. Alexis is broadly interested in characterizing the emotional and behavioral profiles of youth with autism spectrum disorder, including the treatment of comorbid psychopathology and underlying mechanisms (e.g., emotion regulation). She is also interested in the application of implementation science to clinical interventions designed for youth with autism.

Joshua Golt
Josh Golt is a third year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program, working with Dr. Susan White. His research interests include child and adolescent autism spectrum disorder. Specifically, he is interested in emotion regulation and the impact that emotion regulation has on other psychiatric and behavioral problems.

Jong-Woo Suh, M.A.
Jong-Woo Suh is a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program, working with Dr. Susan White. He graduated from Korea University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He has a broad interest in autism spectrum disorder. His primary area of focus is developing effective prevention and intervention programs to support children with autism spectrum disorder. Outside of academia, he enjoys playing computer games with his wife.

Kaelyn Wofford
Kaelyn is a senior undergraduate student who has worked with the lab for three years. Her interests include cognition and social motivation in children with autism spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental disorders. She has experience with data entry, scoring, EEG monitoring, and assisted in the SENSE Theatre Intervention. She now serves as a Research Assistant and Lab Media Coordinator.
