Welcome to the Weinman Research Group
The Weinman Research Group focuses on surface functionalization of membranes to improve the transport properties and reduce membrane fouling for water and wastewater treatment. Our research interests include: (1) altering membrane surface chemistry and/or membrane surface structure (i.e., surface patterns) to change foulant interactions with the membrane surface, (2) altering membrane surface chemistry to capture target compounds of interest, and (3) synthesizing new membrane separation layers to perform desired separations more efficiently (i.e., more permeance, similar/more rejection). Our research combines transport phenomena, membrane separations, and materials characterization to work on the water-energy-food nexus.
