Tsinnijinnie Russell

Tsinnijinnie Russell lives in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and moved to Denver in 2013 to attend the University of Colorado – Denver. Tsinni graduated with a BA in History. He worked as an Archival Assistant at the Western History and Genealogy Department at the Denver Public Library’s Special Collections and Archives in Denver, Colorado. He currently works as a Digital Archives Specialist for the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition in Denver, Colorado. He is extremely excited to attend the SJ4A program and learn more about library sciences and spend time focusing on how to incorporate Social Justice practices into the field.

Following his completion of the program he is excited to have a greater impact on how collections are collected and described.

In his summer internship with the Carlisle Indian Boarding School Digital Resource Center, Tsinni is focusing on learning the next steps in digital archival work by working on digital processing. In June 2024, Tsinni accepted a position with the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition as a Digital Archives Specialist.

​In May 2024, SJ4A Fellows, Su Lan Sheehan, Tsinnijinnie Russell, and Maria Smyer, attended the 2024 Unconference: Archival Bodies regional conference presented by the Society of Rocky Mountain Archivists (SRMA) in Denver, Colorado.

In March 2024, Tsinni started a 30-day term-limited position with the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition as a scanning technician working on-site in Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges in Pennsylvania.
