Su Lan Sheehan

Su Lan Sheehan is a Cataloging Assistant, and former Archives Apprentice, at Denver Public Library’s Special Collections and Archives. They were promoted in March 2024. Sheehan graduated summa cum laude from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a minor in social work. Their previous research interests include 20th century Peruvian agrarian policy and federal Native American policy in the American West. Sheehan is currently working on developing relationships between Denver Public Library’s archives and Denver’s Asian American communities. In 2019, Sheehan moved from Dallas to Denver with their spouse and dog.

June 2024: As an organizer for the Asian American Affinity group, Su was navigating changes at their library and advocating for maintaining safe spaces there.
May 2024: Su took the Library of Congress Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) training at Denver Public Library, with the intent of having the institution qualify as a Program for Cooperative Cataloging contributor in the future. Up at the University of Colorado Boulder, Su did authority work, migrated records into the repositories catalog, and put together a proposal to start a reparative project on Japanese incarceration collections.
