Welcome to RESyL Group
at The University of Alabama

The power and energy industry is experiencing a significant change worldwide because of the rapid development of sustainable energy, electric drive vehicle and smart grid technologies. To help meet America’s growing energy needs while protecting the nation’s energy security and environment, the U.S. government launched the Advanced Energy Initiative in 2006, which calls for the accelerated development and use of advanced clean energy technologies by (1) changing the way we power our homes and businesses, and (2) changing the way we power our automobiles. The research activities of RESyL focus on the R&D issues along these two directions.
The RESyL group is interested in
- Renewable Energy conversion, generation and storage
- Electric Machines and Drives in traction, including electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and electrified railways
- Power Electronics in renewable energy systems, microgrids, and distributed generation
- Intelligent Grids and Systems, including microgrids, HVDC supergrids, artificial neural networks and their applications in power systems
- Smart Energy Management in buildings and homes
- Economics, Market and Policy of smart electric power grid
- High-performance computing especially for neural network training
- Real-time and HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) simulation
The RESyL is looking for enthusiastic students to join our group.
