Since 2014, the Shakespeare Film Series has provided students from the University of Alabama, as well as members of the greater Tuscaloosa and west Alabama communities, with Shakespeare-related movies throughout the academic year. We are proud to be able to screen many of these films at the Bama Theatre, owned and operated by the Tuscaloosa Arts Center. The film series is sponsored by the Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies in the English Department at the University of Alabama.

In All Is True, acclaimed director of Cinderella, Thor, Belfast, and Jack Ryan Kenneth Branagh returns to his roots of putting Shakespeare on the silver screen in this bold and highly original film. The year is 1613, Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age. But disaster strikes when his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground, and devastated, Shakespeare returns to Stratford, where he must face a troubled past and neglected family. Haunted by the death of his only son Hamnet, he struggles to mend the broken relationships with his wife and daughters.
