SBHLI joins with our community to advocate for change at the intersection of behavioral health and law. In Summer 2021, Drs. Cox and Kois founded and hosted UA’s Inaugural Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health Summit, which brought together community stakeholders, elected officials, and SBHLI scholars to problem-solve some of the Tuscaloosa area’s most pressing behavioral health needs in the context of the criminal legal system.
