PROMISE SUMMER INSTITUTE

To promote and enhance the recruitment of future school-based mental health professionals (SBMHPs), PROMISE will hold a 1-week summer institute for potential students interested in careers as SBMHPs at The University of Alabama.  

To promote and enhance the interest of potential students, interested in school-based mental health professions, including School Counseling and Social Work, PROMISE will organize a one-week summer institute at the University of Alabama Main campus in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Summer Institute participants will be students interested in pursuing careers as school based mental health professionals (SBMHPs). Current Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) employees interested in careers as SBMHPs are also encouraged to apply to participate in the summer institute.

During the summer institute participants, we will have presentation from faculty at school based mental health professions (e.g., social work and school counseling) and other stakeholders including current SBMHPs and administrators from TCS.
​1. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with the various stakeholders.
2. Participants will receive $1,000 ($200 per day) to help fray costs associated with participation in the summer institute.
