Welcome to my research website where I delve into the intricate relationship between processing, microstructure, and mechanical properties in metallic materials. Stay tuned as we explore and uncover the science behind the strength and performance of these materials. Join me on this journey of discovery and uncovering the mysteries of metallurgy.

I am Nilesh Kumar, currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alabama. I have a Ph.D. degree in  Materials Science and Engineering. I specialize in Physical and Mechanical Metallurgy of metallic materials and am passionate about developing advanced metallic materials with desired properties by understanding the correlation among processing, microstructure, and mechanical properties. In addition, I am equally passionate about teaching undergraduate and graduate students about engineering materials and fundamentals controlling their properties, especially mechanical properties.

The figure below showcases the central theme of our focus, the correlation among factors processing, microstructure, and mechanical  properties. Navigate through our website to gain insights into our extensive research portfolio, latest publications, world-class facilities, and the talented team behind the work.
