In 2022, I was awarded theĀ Frederic Milton Thrasher Award from the National Gang Crime Research Center (NGCRC). This award is for superior accomplishments in gang research.

In 2020, I was awarded the Louisiana State University (LSU) Alumni Association Faculty Excellence Award. This award recognizes faculty members for outstanding teaching, research, and service contributions. Only four faculty receive this distinction each year.

In 2019, I was awarded Louisiana State University’s (LSU) prestigious Rainmaker Award [Emerging Scholar]. This award is give to faculty who show outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activity for their respective ranks and discipline. The awards recognize both sustained and continuing work, as well as the impact that work has had on the faculty members, their department, and their academic community.

Also, in 2019, I was awarded the Louisiana State University (LSU) Alumni Association Rising Faculty Research Award. This award recognizes faculty at the rank of assistant professor who have outstanding records of scholarship and published research. Only four faculty receive this distinction each year.

In 2012, I was award the Criminology, Law & Society (CLS) Doctoral Student Peer Mentoring Award. This award is a peer-nominated award, presented to the doctoral student who has demonstrated outstanding peer mentoring–defined broadly through such avenues as service, research, ethics, and/or role-modeling. This award is enables graduate students to recognize graduate student excellence in such facets of student life and work that benefit graduate students and the CLS program at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
