Personal
I am originally from Hinckley, Ohio (home of the buzzards). I completed my undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, during which time I met my wife Molly. We were avid skiers and raced on OSU’s intramural ski race team, skiing regularly at Snow Trails in Mansfield, Ohio.
Molly went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Anthropology at Kent State University and I attended the University of California, Irvine in Southern California for graduate school. We were married in 2008. During my studies at UCI, Molly began working at Cogstone Resource Management and is now an owner and the company’s CEO, CFO, and Principal Archeologist. We have three amazing children together.
After completing my graduate studies in 2014 I was hired as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. During the eight years I was employed at LSU, I was promoted to associate professor and earned tenure. In 2020, I joined the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at The University of Alabama and move to Tuscaloosa. It was one of the best decisions, both professionally and personally.
When I am not working in Farrah Hall, I enjoy spending time with my family playing board games, building LEGO, watching movies, and riding or rowing on either of my Pelotons. I also have an affinity for pop culture, particularly the 80s and 90s. Molly and I still try to get and go downhill skiing whenever possible.
