Prof. Murphy has taught a wide range of courses in cultural anthropology for both the Anthropology Department and the Blount Undergraduate Initiative, but until his retirement  he regularly taught three courses: ANT 436 (Social Structure), ANT 419/519 (Myth, Ritual and Magic) and ANT 641 (Culture)
