As the research in the lab encompasses the entire communication chain, many projects benefit from coordinated effort of individuals from different disciplines (linguistics, neuroscience, mathematics, biomedical and electrical engineering, physics, computer science, psychology and kinesiology have all contributed to joint projects).
Collaborative projects can lead to innovative and exciting research, as ideas and methods from theoretical and experimental fields can enrich investigations. Students benefit the most from such collaborations, since their training in cross-disciplinary interactions gives them a much broader perspective on their research subject – and allows them to ask questions that are often not tracktable within one discipline.
The lab has active collaborations with other researchers on UA campus and at other institutions. These include:
Leonid Rubchinsky, Ph.D., Indiana University, Mathematics
Susan White, University of Alabama, Psychology/CIDY
Julia Krebs, Ph.D., University of Salzburg, Linguistics
Ronnie Wilbur, Purdue University, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences
Dietmar Roehm, Ph.D., University of Salzburg, Neurolinguistics
Sevgi Gurbuz, North Carolina State University, Enginering
Sungwoo Ahn, Ph.D., East Carolina University, Mathematics
Marina Milkovic, Ph.D., University of Zagreb, Department of Hearing Impairments
Hermann Shwamender, Ph.D., University of Salzburg, Kinesiology
