Resistance spot welding (RSW) is a fusion welding process where coalescence is produced by applying a high electric current through the stack of sheets between the electrodes. RSW is the most preferred and widely used welding technique in the automotive industry for assembling auto-bodies. We perform RSW using the robotic Bosch weld controller to assess the weldability of advanced high-strength steels (e.g., Martensitic steels, PHS steels). Further, the weld properties are examined with the help of lap-shear, cross-tension, and hardness testing. The RSW cycle is analyzed using physical simulations via Gleeble thermo-mechanical simulator.
