
Dr. Leah Tompkins
Dr. Leah Tompkins grew up in central Kansas and received her undergraduate degree in Health Promotion from Emporia State University. She went to earn a Master of Science in Health Education from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education in Student Personnel Administration from UNC-Greensboro. Dr. Tompkins completed her EdD in Student Affairs Leadership at the University of Georgia in 2020. While pursuing her graduate education, Dr. Tompkins worked full-time from 2008-2014 at UNC-Greensboro as the Associate Director (2008-2012) and as the Interim Director (2012-2014) of the Office of Academic Outreach in the School of Health and Human Sciences. She transitioned to supporting online MPH students at the Rollins School of Public Health from 2015-2018 and then returned to UNC-Greensboro from 2018-2021 to lead the implementation of an interdisciplinary online undergraduate program and then transitioned to lead a graduate online program as well. Dr. Tompkins accepted a new role at The University of Alabama in 2021 to join the Department of Health Science to coordinate the master’s level programs and to guide students through their culminating experience requirements.
