FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many hours do I have to take during the fall and still get my football tickets?
At least 12 hours
Two classes that I want to take are offered on the same days and at the same times; can I take them both?
No. As you cannot be in two places at once, you cannot take two classes that meet at the same time in different locations.
Do I really need to attend an advising session/appointment every semester?
Yes! If you plan to register for classes, you must have your advising paperwork signed by an advisor to have your registration hold lifted. Additionally, departmental advisors can give you the best advice regarding your schedule of classes and how to best achieve your future goals.+
How do I know which term a class is offered?
If you look up the class on myBama and direct your attention to the right side of the page, you will see a column labeled Date (MM/DD). This will tell you if the class is offered in:
- the interim: 3 weeks in May;
- summer 1: usually the first week or so of May and all of June;
- summer 2: usually all of July and sometimes the first week in August, or;
- the full summer term: this session runs the full length of the summer, beginning w/the first summer term and ending w/the 2nd summer term
My registration date is during one of my classes this semester; can I get permission to register early?
No. Registration days and times are decided bythe University Registrar. There is no way to change that assigned day or time.
I plan to take a sequence of sciences over the summer term (example: CH 101 & 102), but the system is not letting me register for the second science class (ex: CH 102). What should I do?
Because the first science is usually the prerequisite for registration into the second, in order to take them both in the same summer or one in the summer and one in the fall, you will have to get permission from the instructor of the second science class or the specific department to override the prerequisite.
A class I planned to take during advising is full. What do I do?
You may email the instructor of record for that class and request a capacity override, but this does not guarantee that you will be allowed a spot in the class.
- Please note: Many classes can only handle a certain number of students due to limitations set by the University (such as the 35 person maximum limit imposed on classes with a ‘W’ designation), limitations due to space requirements (such as KIN 492 & 493 which both utilize the exercise physiology laboratory), or limitations due to the nature of the class (such as KIN 388). In this case, an override may not be possible.
