I arrived home from the AWP conference to a box from rob mclennan, publisher at above/ground press. I am used to receiving mail from rob, because I subscribe to his chapbook series, so I didn’t open it immediately, but he seemed to really want me to open it, so I got curious and took the scissors to the tape. Inside, I found a box of this thick chapbook, “Reports from the Smith Society,” which comprises poets and critics responding to my work through poems and essays. I was so surprised and speechless at this compendium of acts of care. (I am still speechless!)
