In Climatology we briefly review the most important concepts of Geography 101 or Introduction to Meteorology before exploring the climatic regions of the world, their ranges and distributions, and the physical processes of the atmosphere and ocean that govern long-term weather patterns at particular locations. Also taught in Costa Rica with more emphasis on Tropical Climatology

Applied Climatology
A mixed senior level/graduate class, Applied Climatology uses a mixture of lecture, quantitative assignments, presentations, and field assignments to explore themes relating to climate change/variability and climate and human health. Also taught in Costa Rica with more emphasis on Tropical Climatology
GY 417/517
Extreme Weather and Society
Extreme Weather and Society is a mixed senior level/graduate seminar class consisting of weekly readings, discussions, class exercises, and probability games. The first weeks of the class provide an explanation of severe weather meteorology before the class transitions into a review of current social science recommendations and policies for enhancing risk communication.
