Emily Ewing
Graduate Study Coordinator
Emily is a fourth-year student in the Clinical Health Psychology Program working with Dr. Heather Gunn. She is originally from San Diego, CA. She earned a B.A. in psychology from San Diego State University and an M.A. in Experimental Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. Her research interests include examining various determinants of adolescent sleep health and identifying sleep health disparities in this population. In her free time, Emily enjoys working out, doing yoga, hiking, traveling, and especially spending time with her two cats.

Brianna Burns

Brianna is a senior undergraduate student from California studying Biology on the Pre-med track. She is interested in adolescent sleep and health psychology. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school to become a doctor potentially specializing in ophthalmology. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, long walks with friends, and spending time with loved ones.

Kelly Doudell

was a Clinical Health Psychology PhD doctoral student who worked with Dr. Gunn for 5 years from 2019-2024. She is currently finishing her PhD degree by completing her internship at a VA in Pennsylvania. She is originally from northern California and earned her B.S. in Psychology from Santa Clara University and her M.A. in Psychology from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She studies sleep disparities, substance use, and other health behaviors. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys hiking, going to the gym, roller skating, dancing, reading a good book, and traveling.

Alexandra Fischer
Graduate Study CoordinatorAlexandra
was a Clinical Health Psychology PhD doctoral student who worked with Dr. Gunn for 5 years from 2019-2024. She is currently finishing her PhD degree by completing her internship at a VA in Texas. She earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Family Violence Prevention from the University of Minnesota and a M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University. Her research interests include the interpersonal context of sleep and the intersection of sleep, women’s health, and traumatic stress.

Kenda Eberhardt

Kenda was a clinical psychology doctoral student in the health psychology track. She earned her B.S. in psychology from Truman State University. She currently works at MIZU as a research study coordinator. She studies sleep and eating disorders. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, exercising, and cooking.

Elaine Poole
2022 UA Graduate
Elaine graduated from UA in 2022 and earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in neuroscience. She worked with Dr. Gunn on an honors independent research project which focused on the roommate relationship and sleep in college students. She currently is working as a research assistant at Rush University in Chicago and hopes to pursue a graduate degree in the future. Her interests include health psychology, interpersonal relationships, and peer health education. She loves music, reading, painting, and her pets.

Lucy Hanley
2022 UA Graduate
Lucy graduated from UA in 2022, double majoring in Biology and Psychology on the Pre-med track. Next, she hopes to pursue a career in clinical neuropsychology. She is originally from Cincinnati, OH, but both of her parents graduated from Auburn University (Roll Tide!). In her spare time, Lucy enjoys painting, cooking, and attending spin class.

Julie graduated from UA in 2022, majoring in Psychology and Anthropology. Next, she hopes to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is originally from Hoover, Alabama. In her spare time, she likes to make coffee, embroider, and watch figure skating

Tiniyah graduated from UA in 2022, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology on the pre-med track. She is originally from Hartwell, Georgia. Next, she hopes to attend medical school to become a Sports Medicine Physician. In her free time, she enjoys drinking coffee, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Katherine Clark

Katherine worked in Dr. Gunn’s lab from 2022-2023. She graduated from UA in 2024, majoring in psychology and minoring in criminal justice. Next, she plans to attend a graduate program studying clinical psychology with a focus on adolescent behavior. Outside of the lab, Katherine enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family.

Amanda Porter

Amanda graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Advertising. Next, she hopes to pursue her graduate degree, focusing on studying romantic relationships and marriage from a clinical perspective. When she’s not in the lab, she’s hiking, doing yoga, or choosing her next travel destination.

Julia graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in Psychology, with a Biology Minor. She plans to attend graduate school to become a Physician Assistant and would like to work in surgery. She is passionate about healthcare and is excited to partner with patients on their journey to wellness.

Lealis graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in psychology and minoring in criminal justice. She is interested in pursuing a career in the forensic psychology field but also has interests in sleep and developmental psychology. In her spare time, Lealis enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching documentaries, and cooking.

Kakki Knott

Kakki graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in Psychology with a Minor in Human Development. She plans to get into graduate school where she can work for her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology! She is passionate about working with children because they are ever changing and are so curious about the world. In her free time, she loves going to 9round kickboxing and having movie nights with her friends.

Butler Wilbanks

Butler graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology. He is interested in all forms of Psychology research especially sleep and its physical and mental effects on the body. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends, watching Netflix, and cheering on Alabama sports. Butler plans on attending medical school where he hopes to become a doctor and possibly specialize in Psychiatry or Neurology.

Brandi Ford

Brandi graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is very interested in Forensic psychology and Clinical psychology. She was on the dance team at The University of Alabama. She enjoys being with family and friends, as well as being active and traveling!

Giles graduated from UA in 2021, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. She’s interested in health psychology. In her free time she enjoys a fair amount of fitness in Yoga and Spin classes. After graduation Giles would like continue with graduate school in the city of Chicago.

His interests were in industrial and organizational psychology and, in the future, hopes to apply the study of psychology in business. He was raised in southern California and enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing guitar, listening to music, and watching horror movies.

Riley Boegel

Riley graduated from UA in 2019, majoring in psychology and minoring in biology. She is working with Dr. Gunn on a two-year honors independent research project which focuses on the relationship between interpersonal conflict, attachment style, and adolescent sleep duration. She is originally a native of the Washington, D.C. area and loves to hike and explore new places.

J’haria is a native of Columbus, GA. In the fall of 2018, J’haria earned her B.A. in Psychology from The University of Alabama. This summer she will be interning at Florida International University in their Summer Treatment Program for PreKindergarteners. She will continue her education this fall at Columbia University in New York, NY. and study Developmental Psychology.
