Welcome to the Fedin Lab

Our research interests encompass programmable colloidal nanoscale materials for single-photon sources, imaging, and energy applications. Our goal is to achieve atomic-level understanding and control over the synthesis of nanoscale materials with predefined electronic and photonic properties. We explore the chemistry at the interface of “traditional” colloidal nanomaterials and the emerging field of two-dimensional materials and develop electrochemical methods to monitor and quantify hot syntheses and post-synthetic modifications of nanomaterials in situ. As a particular example, we synthesize durable highly luminescent heterostructures of SWIR semiconductors as potential quantum emitters.
