In 2014, the Education Policy Center proposed a study of the return on investment (ROI) of state appropriations for public higher education in Alabama. By capturing the economic impact of Alabama’s 14 public universities, the study statistically proved that by increasing the allocations for public higher education, Alabama’s legislature will also increase the per capita income of Alabama’s citizens.
