Welcome to our lab website! Our group’s goal is to improve water resources through a combination of basic and applied research. Most of our research falls into one or more of the following themes:
- Hydrologic and biogeochemical processes
- Ecological engineering (e.g., stream and wetland restoration)
- Watershed management
Many of our questions focus on systems at the interface between aquatic and terrestrial systems — upland wetlands, headwater streams, and large-river floodplains. While these ‘upstream’ systems are often the most vulnerable to landuse and climate change, we are learning that they also provide important ‘downstream’ services.
