Research Initiative
The central focuses of The Early Learning Initiative at Gadsden are to serve as a model site for high-quality early childhood educators and serve as a research facility to further the field of child development. To accomplish these foci, students, faculty, research team members, families, and educators will be engaged with the ELI.
Research
Early Learning Initiative at Gadsden will serve as a research facility primarily for The University of Alabama’s College of Education. However, other departments from our campus, the Alabama Department of Early Childhood (ADECE) or state agencies may also request to use our facilities for research. All research project proposals are submitted to Office of Research Compliance and reviewed by the Institutional Review Board due to the involvement of human subjects. Once a project has been approved, recruitment of subjects may begin.
Researchers may send home voluntary participation request applications or send electronic recruitment flyers to the faculty or ELI coordinator.
Findings from any research may be published and presented in professional
journals or at professional conferences. The names of children are never used in publications or presentations. The findings of research projects may or may not be disclosed to the program and/or families.
