Robin McWilliam, Ph.D.
Dr. Robin McWilliam is Executive Director of EI@UA and Professor in the Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities at The University of Alabama. He is also Director of the Evidence-based International Early Intervention Office (EIEIO). He received his Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education.
For over 35 years, Dr. McWilliam has been investigating how best to help young children with disabilities and their families. Through experiences as an early interventionist, a program administrator, a trainer, a researcher, a university professor, and a consultant, he has developed a model for early intervention—the Routines-Based Model, so called because the interventions for children happen in their daily lives (home, classroom, and community routines). The people who are naturally in those routines, such as parents and teachers, are empowered through this model with the skills and confidence to help the children. Dr. McWilliam has written over 70 scholarly articles, written or edited 8 books, and made hundreds of presentations around the world. He travels to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Paraguay, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, and Taiwan to help with implementation of the model.
