Seeking PhD Students for high-speed aerodynamics and unsteady aerodynamics research

We are seeking motivated PhD applicants who are interested in experimental aerodynamics. There is an opportunity in high-speed aerodynamics. This research aims to understand the effects of surface curvature on 3D shock-wave/boundary-layer interaction. Another opportunity is in unsteady aerodynamics with particular focus on understanding the flow physics of the interaction of large-scale vortices with an oscillating wing experiencing 3D dynamic stall.

Applicants must have passion about experimental fluid/aerodynamics and strong academic preparation. Required skills include computer programming, and effective written and oral communications. Desired skills include prior experience with experimental fluid mechanics research and PIV measurements.

Support is available starting Fall 2025. Candidates should contact me (rwahidi@ua.edu) with a summary of their background and skills, CV, and sample publications/posters (if any).
