DOMINIC M. YEAGER
MFA, EMBA

As Associate Professor of Theatre, I serve as the Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance and Head the Arts Management program at The University of Alabama. I am currently an Executive Producer on the feature film “The Coming,” the Executive Artistic Director of the New Voices Theatre Festival, and have worked as General Manager and Producer on several off-Broadway, national, and international projects. I also serve on the Fundraising committee of the Southeastern Theatre Conference, and as a longstanding member of the IAVM I serve on the Education Committee, and I am a member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE). Additionally, in my own effort to continue and encourage life long learning I completed an EMBA degree in December 2022. 

Since becoming an academician I have been very fortunate to be involved in the main components of the academy. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have endeavored to broaden my profile within the professional world, developing new works as a general manager and producer for new works on the stage and on screen. Most recently, I founded the New Voices Theatre Festival which has been developed to allow the stories of under represented communities to be told, workshopped, and produced. As the Head of an Arts Management program and the only faculty member for over a decade, I am no stranger to teaching. I deeply believe in a hands on approach in the classroom and life long learning. Learning methods, models, and theories are only useful if you know how to apply them. In my classroom we learn these methods, models, and theories and apply them to real arts organizations on a weekly basis. I have found that not only do the students retain the depth and breadth of the content faster, they can apply it in a way that becomes second nature.  Finally, utilizing a strong work ethic to serve people was instilled in me as the greatest way to have an impact on people. I work to ensure I am serving our department, college, university, and the industry in ways that I can be most impactful.
