Jeana Yates has served on the faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Alabama since 2011.  With a Bachelor of Science from Furman University and a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Northwestern University, she has worked in the private sector and academia for over 25 years.  In addition to university teaching, her career in science has included scientific research and biotechnology marketing. She has bench science experience in infectious disease research at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), breast cancer research at Vanderbilt University, and human growth hormone and polycystic ovarian syndrome research at Northwestern University, where she also served as Director of Operations and External Outreach for the Center for Functional Genomics. Her work experience also includes biotechnology product management at Cole-Parmer/Fisher Scientific.  At the University of Alabama, Ms. Yates teaches Introduction to Biology and Biology Outreach.  She is the 2020 recipient of UA’s Center for Community-Based Partnership Award.
