Bradley A. White, Ph.D.

Principal Investigator and Lab Director

Dr. White is Director of the Cognition, Emotion, and Self-Regulation (CEaSR) Lab, a core faculty member at University of Alabama’s Center for Youth Development and Intervention, and an Associate Professor in the UA Department of Psychology. He is a licensed psychologist and holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University. Dr. White specializes in developmental psychopathology and clinical science, focusing on the development, impacts, prevention, and treatment of disruptive behavior problems and the promotion of prosocial behavior. He is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook on Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology, Associate Editor of Evidence-Based Practice in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Consulting Editor of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and serves on committees across several professional organizations, including the Society of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.

Nicole Powell, Ph.D.

Project Coordinator and Lab Manager

Dr. Powell holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alabama and a Master’s in Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Maternal and Child Health specialization).

Her research interests include factors involved in promoting healthy emotional, social, and behavioral development in children.  She enjoys spending time with her family and making feeble attempts at running and crossword puzzles.

Shanta’ Burrell, B.S.

Project Business Manager

Shanta Burrell serves as the Project Coordinator for the Center for Youth Development and Intervention. She has over 13 years of experience in managing several research grants related to child aggression and parent mental health (including our current study – FAST!). 

​ In her current position, she is responsible for supervising multiple research assistants, collaborating with community partners, and overseeing day-to-day research activities. She has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama.

Olivia N. Gifford, B.S.

Project Coordinator

Olivia is a recent UA graduate from Zionsville, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Spanish and has been a member of the CEaSR Lab for 4 years. She is currently applying to PhD programs for Child Clinical Psychology! Her research interests include CU traits and externalizing disorders in children and psychophysiology. In her free time, she loves to go to concerts and read a good book!
