Capstone College of Nursing
Dr. Cheryl Beaube-Hines received her BSN from Jacksonville State University in 1980. She earned a MSN in Anesthesia from the State University of New York at Buffalo while serving in the United States Army and in 2015 she completed her EdD from the University of Alabama.
She has been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist since 1984 and continues to maintain her certification through her practice at Northport Medical Center in Northport, AL. As Northport is a regional anesthesia site for both the Samford and UAB anesthesia programs, Dr. Hines enjoys precepting graduate nurse anesthesia students from both programs as time permits. Additionally, Dr. Hines serves as an active member of the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists’ (NBCRNA) Oversite Subcommittee on Recertification.
The practice of anesthesia requires a unique and in-depth understanding of pharmacology, pathophysiology, and critically ill patients. Thus her background provides a perfect match of expertise and passion as she teaches undergraduate pharmacology and complex client courses, as well as graduate pathophysiology at the University of Alabama.
She is a member of the Alabama State Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau.
Dr. Hines’s research interests include educational strategies to support teaching and learning related to clinical judgment, pharmacology, and the care of the critically ill.
