Welcome! I’m Dr. Byung-Cheol Kim.

I am a Professor in Economics at the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama. I hold an endowed position, James C. Lee Faculty Fellow.
Before the UA, I worked at the Georgia Institute of Technology (2008-2017). I received a Ph.D. in Economics (2007) from Michigan State University, and a B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University, South Korea.
My primary research field is Industrial Organization. I have studied the economics of the Internet, particularly the topics of network neutrality regulations, digital privacy issues, and multisided platforms. My articles have been published in highly regarded journals.
I love to teach. I have taught Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Game Theory, and Mathematical Economics with great passion for students’ success.
Solely due to grace, I am a saved sinner of Jesus Christ, a son of loving parents, a beloved husband, and a blessed dad of three beautiful kids. I cannot but confess, “I am not worthy of the least of all the deeds of steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant.” (Genesis 32:10)
