Biology Advising
Each semester keep an eye out for an email from your advisor — Biology majors will receive an email with instructions for departmental advising for registration. Go to the ‘Academic Calendar’ on the Registrar’s webpage (http://registrar.ua.edu/) to determine your registration time assignment based on your classification and number of hours completed.
For a list of anticipated future course offerings check the Schedule of course offerings (Note: this is subject to change).
Grade Point Average: A 2.0 grade point average in the major is required for completion of the degree. Please see the Grades and Grade Points section of this catalog for an explanation on grade point average calculations.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites for all BSC courses at the 300- and 400-level must be passed with a minimum grade of C-. Courses with a passing grade of at least a D- will still count toward the degree and do not need to be re-taken, unless the course is a pre-req for another upper level BSC course and/or the minimum 2.0 Biology GPA is not satisfied.
If you are a freshman: sign up for an advising appointment with A&S in 200 Clark Hall and have them help you set up your DegreeWorks plan. You can make an appointment online for advising in Clark Hall at https://as.ua.edu/academics/advising/make-an-appointment/
FOR ALL ADVISING APPOINTMENTS: YOU WILL NEED A 3-SEMESTER PLAN IN DEGREEWORKS. Click here for Degree Works help and tutorials
Special Note to Seniors: If you are graduating at the end of this semester, you don’t need advising. However we would appreciate it if you filled out the department’s Senior Exit Interview Survey that is sent to your email.

Sample 4 year plans:
