
Black Scholars Day
In a celebration of the achievements of the many of Black students who have maintained exceptional grades and contributed to the university, BFSA hosts a Black Scholars Day. Attended by hundreds of students and their parents, the event occurs in the Spring Semester during University Honors Week.
A description of some of the scholarships available to students are provided below.
Vivian Malone Endowed Scholarship
Awarded by BFSA to the Junior with the Highest Academic Standing in Honor of the First Black Graduate of the University of Alabama.
Authorine Lucy Foster Endowed Scholarship
Awarded by BFSA to a sophomore in honor of the first black student to attend The University of Alabama.
The James Hood
Award
The recipient must be 25 years of age or older, demonstrate good academic achievement and be a person who has triumphed over formidable odds.
