- Bachelor-prepared nurses from rural populations in Alabama.
- Nurses with an interest in pursuing an MSN with a Nursing Education specialty.
- Commitment to working as a part-time Clinical Nurse Educator during the program and in a rural area after graduation.
Category Definitions
Unemployed Worker
An individual who is without a job and is available to work. Examples are full-time students who are not currently working or retired nurses.
Underemployed Worker
An individual who is not currently connected to a full-time job commensurate with the individual’slevel of education, skills, or wage/ salary earned previously or has obtained only episodic, short-term, or part-time employment. Examples for this grant include nurses who are working part-time but desire a full-time position; adjunct nursing faculty qualified for and/or who want a tenure-track faculty position; individuals in any occupation who are not working at a skill and/or pay level commensurate with their level of education, skill, or previous pay.
Incumbent Worker
At program enrollment, an individual already employed, either with an employer partner or another employer, needs training to upgrade their skills to secure full-time employment, advance in their careers, or retain their current positions in H-1B-related occupations and industries. The training provided to incumbent workers is either 1) developed in collaboration with an employer partner with which the individual is employed or 2) for individuals who are employed at the time of enrollment by a non-partner employer but who needs additional skill training to improve their opportunities for middle and high-skilled jobs in H-1B-related industries or occupations. Examples for this grant include currently employed nurses who want to transition to nurse education/instruction.
