Milly McKenzie is a junior from San Antonio, TX, studying anthropology with a concentration in archaeology of the Americas. Milly is a member of the Blount Scholars Program, and is involved with the Blount Student Organization as a class representative and Residence Hall Association as its treasurer. She works as a Resident Advisor at the University as well as a laboratory & field technician in the Office of Archaeological Research. In APPL, she studies the taphonomic process of carbonization, and how that affects the morphology and testa texture of chile peppers. Milly is a contributor to the Chili Pepper Seed Identification and Machine Learning Project, the UA Foodscapes Project, and the Cerro Chepén GIS and 3D Visualization Project . She is also interested in archaeological and museum ethics and was a part of the University of Alabama’s semi-finalist team in the 2019 Society for American Archaeology Ethics Bowl. Following her undergraduate studies, Milly plans to pursue her PhD in anthropology and explore the fields of archaeology and museum studies.
