Dr. Easir Papon

Dr. Papon received his B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, in 2012, and his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Alabama in 2019. He joined UA as an instructor of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics in 2019. His research interests include additive manufacturing, composite materials, computational and experimental mechanics, and space structures and in-space manufacturing.

S M Mohaimenul Islam

Mohaimenul is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research interest includes composites, aerospace structures, and additive manufacturing.


Sakshar Chowdhury

Short Bio |
Sakshar Chowdhury is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, in 2022, he accepted a full-time position as a Teaching Assistant at the same university. His research interests include aerospace materials, deployable structures, and additive manufacturing.


Martin Mangwiro

Martin Mangwiro graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 2022. His research interest includes composite structures repair and additive manufacturing.

Beyond academics, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time outdoors, where I find balance and peace


Atreiu Vacchi

Short Bio |
Atreiu is a Junior in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. He has been a member of the Alabama Rocketry Association (ARA) for two years as their Payload Sub-team Lead. He has experience with the structural design of payload components, subsystem coding, assembly, soldering, and manufacturing. He is interested in 3D printing and advanced materials to increase the overall performance of his team. He is willing to deepen his understanding of the applications of 3D printing for the Aerospace and Manufacturing industries.


Elizabeth Owens

​​Elizabeth Owens is a second-year undergraduate studying Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, and History and is interested in seeking a JD/Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. Following this, she plans to pursue a career in patent litigation, focusing on aerospace structures. In addition, Elizabeth is a member of the Catherine J. Randall Research Scholars Program.

Sajani worked on the fracture toughness of 3D printed composites toward her MS in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. She is currently working at Collins Aerospace as a structural engineer.
