Movies / Intermediate-dispersivity introduction
Introduction to the movies of intermediate-dispersivity regimes:
This group of movies show the surface patterns at large times for the values of dispersivity around λ = 1/ε ∼ 1. In all cases, we have κ = 0, p = 16 and q = 16.
The initial state was a small-amplitude white noise. Movies 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 correspond to the attractors of evolutions with ε = 8.0, 2.0, 1.0, 0.5, and 0.125, respectively.
In the movies 15, 16, and 17, one can clearly see horseshoe-shaped structures localized near the maxima of thickness (indicated by dark blue or violet color). They are always downstream-convex.
For movies 14 through 17, the viewing direction is normal to the wall; for the last movie, it is obliquely up the wall.
