ABOUT US
The Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program (ADAP) provides legal services to Alabamians with disabilities to protect and promote their civil rights.
ADAP is part of the nation’s federally-funded protection and advocacy (P&A) system, the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN).
Our Priorities

We envision a society where disabled people are valued, exercise self-determination through meaningful choices, and have equality of opportunity.
Our Services
We provide information and referral assistance, individual case advocacy, training and outreach, and investigation and monitoring services.
What We Do Not Do
ADAP’s services are limited to those issues and eligible persons identified in our Statement of Priorities and our Eligibility Requirements. We do not provide help with, for example, the following issues:
- Bankruptcy
- Divorce, custody or child support
- Employment benefits
- Filing for a guardianship over a person with a disability
- Food stamp applications/claims
- Immigration
- Medical or professional malpractice
- Out-of-state issues
- Pension and ERISA issues
- Personal injury claims
- Product liability cases
- Representation in criminal cases
- Social Security (SSI/SSDI) applications or appeals
- Tax issues
- Traffic violations
- Wills, trusts, and estate planning
- Workers’ compensation or unemployment compensation.
