Self Advocacy
We believe that every person with a disability has the right to self-determination, autonomy, and full participation in all aspects of life. Self-advocacy is a core expression of this belief! Individuals speak and act for themselves, make informed choices, and lead in shaping the services, policies, and communities that affect them.
We affirm that people with disabilities are the experts in their own lives, and their voices must be heard, respected, and centered in all decision-making. Through peer support, barrier removal, and collective action, we uphold the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us” and commit to advancing dignity and independence for all.

Our Impact
In addition to providing legal help to individual clients, ADAP supports the rights of people with disabilities by educating policymakers, engaging in systems change litigation, and outreach around disability rights.
Our work is guided by the voices of people like you!
Every year, we set priorities that govern the work we do and the cases we accept. As part of our priority setting process, we seek input from people like you.
Our Values

People with disabilities should have the same opportunity to participate in the community as persons without disabilities.

People with disabilities have the right to reasonable accommodations that are needed for full participation in their communities.

People with disabilities have the right to be afforded meaningful choices and to make informed decisions.
All Are Welcome
We believe in a community where all are welcomed and valued. Our commitment to inclusion for people with disabilities is strengthened by communities comprising people of different races, ethnicities, religions, ages, cultural backgrounds, geographies, sexes, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
