Priority: (PADD, PAIMI, PAIR, PATBI)
ADAP provides advocacy services to individuals with disabilities who claim to have been abused and/or neglected in a facility (e.g. hospital, group home, shelter, residential treatment center, jail, prison) or community setting. ADAP’s advocacy usually consists of individual case services and/or an investigation. ADAP generally investigates all reports of serious injuries and/or death of individuals. ADAP also has the authority to conduct an investigation when probable cause exists that serious injuries and/or death has occurred.
ADAP participates on several of the Department of Mental Health (DMH) standing local and State level committees in order to address systemic issues regarding individuals with disabilities related to abuse, neglect and rights violation.
